The 2025 Biosecurity Blitz has ended
Our 10th annual Biosecurity Blitz, held from 16 October to 16 November 2025. The event was a great success, showcasing the power of citizen science in protecting Western Australia’s biosecurity.
Biosecurity Blitz highlights include:
- 1,170 reports submitted through the MyPestGuide® Reporter app.
- 776 unique reporters participated, with 362 (47%) being first-time contributors.
- 298 unique species identified across 246 families and 86 orders.
- Top insect families were: Cerambycidae (56), Bostrichidae (47), Noctuidae (37), and Pentatomidae (31).
- Aquatic highlights included: carp, leeches, marine snails, crayfish and a rare colonial Ascidian that had the whole team buzzing!

You can help by observing and describing organisms in their natural environment to support accurate identification.
If you come across something that looks like an exotic pest - even if you’re unsure - please report it. Every observation helps build a clearer picture.
