Quarantine WA Border Checkpoints

The department's Quarantine WA service operates border checkpoints as a first line of defence against incursions of unwanted pests, weeds and diseases, which could arrive on freight, cargo and other items brought in from interstate.

Quarantine WA inspection services / bookings

Quarantine WA inspection activity can be booked by contacting the relevant number for the required region and service. Inspection hours for each region and service are stated below, and inspection activity must be completed within these hours. Any activity booked or conducted outside of normal hours will attract increased fees. 

Regional

Bookings should be made via the inspector contact number supplied on the Direction Notice ordering the item(s) to be presented for inspection. The nominated officer can provide advice on the inspection hours for that region.

Animal inspections are conducted in the quarantine area of the air carrier’s cargo facility within inspection hours. Animals transferring to regional airports will be inspected at Perth Airport prior to transhipping. The animal will be held in quarantine until inspected and cleared by an inspector.

Importers must arrange transport of the animals so they can be presented and inspected during inspection hours. The importer and the carrier are responsible for the animals' welfare while they await inspection. No inspections are available outside of inspection hours. Animals arriving outside inspection hours must be held at the carrier’s facility until inspected.    

Livestock inspections / bookings

Imported livestock must meet specified pre-entry conditions and required paperwork must be submitted at least 3 working days prior to intended entry into WA. Please see importing livestock into WA.  

Inspection on arrival will occur at the Perth Airport (relevant carrier's facility), DPIRD Kalgoorlie Quarantine Stockyards or DPIRD Kununurra Quarantine Stockyards depending on entry point.
